Live from New York

Monday, November 8th, 2010

A bit of Glam hits the magazine shelf and You Tube for Mystique Jewelers just out this month in WASHINGTON DC. Mystique displays its first Ad/Video with fine jewelry by the mystique Collection, model Stefanie Ball and photographer Yulia Gorbachenko. And Now our first video soon to be part of a secret reality show … stay tuned!

On the path to stardom, model Stefanie Ball shows her natural talent for being photographed with fine jewelry from the chic Mystique Collection. Preparing for the shoot was so much fun. Stefanie and I met and discussed the style of the shot and what I imagined I would like to capture in this image. We studied the well known designer ads such as Channel, Ralph Lauren and David Yurman to see the hottest and best of jewelry advertising and then created thoughts on what we wanted to convey.

The shooting took place in Brooklyn, NY in a warehouse district that even a taxi cab had a difficult time to find. The studio loft was filled with technical equipment: lights, makeup rooms and our film crew.

Photographer Yulia Gorbacheckco, a well known high fashion photographer ( as seen in the NY fashion week) 2010 International Photography Awards  had her work load for the day to capture our desires. Preparing for the shoot, while listening to the beats of mood music, the make up artists created sultry , alluring eyes for Stefanie and hairstylist created a simple soft curl.

The film crew “Law & order videographers John McCarthy and staff zoomed in on the beginning of the model preparations, snapping over 700 shots, two make ups changes, two hair dresser changes and designer changes in an entire day.  Then my vision became a reality and it’s in the Washingtonian magazine.

The Pirate-Bride

Friday, November 5th, 2010

By Laura Gosse, special blogger to the Mystique!

I admit it; I was watching My Fair Wedding with David Tutera this past Sunday morning.  Not just one episode, but several!  Mind you, I’m not getting married; I’ve been happily married for 12 years.  It has become something of an occupational hazard for me.  I market to brides & grooms!

For the last 18 months, I have been immersed in the world of weddings, promoting the beautiful and unique event centers owned and operated by Montgomery Parks!   I also work with Elizabeth and Mystique Jewelers to spread the word about their upcoming trunk shows, for example, with Erica Courtney on November 12th & 13th.   My worlds collided this past Sunday morning  when Erica Courtney herself popped up in one of the innumerable My Fair Wedding episodes I watched, in this case the episode of the Pirate-Bride

The pirate-bride trying on an Erica Courtney necklace.I guess I shouldn’t be so shocked by my own reality television.  Erica does have a Gorgeous and Engaged (TM) collection of engagement rings and wedding bands.   However, it was Erica’s Drop Dead Gorgeous (TM) collection that best suited David Tutera’s Pirate-Bride, Brooke.  These pieces of jewelry are big, bold and colorful.  Any Pirate-Bride worth her salt would want these in her treasure chest, or on her chest for that matter.  This beautiful necklace — Aurora — is 18k gold and diamond Aurora tanzanite and pink sapphire pendent.  Brooke wore the matching ring and pendant earrings.

You don’t have to be on My Fair Wedding to meet Erica Courtney,  she’s going to be at Mystique on Friday, November 12th & Saturday, November 13th, talking about her collection, applying (temporary) tattoos and more!

Always the marketer, I can’t resist mentioning the upcoming 2nd Annual Not-So-Big Wedding Boutique – this Sunday, November 7, 1-4PM at Rockwood Manor, in Potomac, MD.   We’re raffling off a gift certificate from Mystique (among the many great prizes).  Worlds collide again!

See you there!

RAPAPORT… Diamond retailer Since1910.com is celebrating its 100-year anniversary by offering a $106,794 diamond engagement cupcake for sale online.
The cupcake is available in vanilla or chocolate and features a 5.48-carat diamond on top. The advertised diamond is certified by the GIA as a round, F, SI2 good cut. There are many diamond options for the cupcake, which affect the item’s total price.

“We are thrilled to offer this amazing ‘proposal dessert’ for those discerning patrons who want to create a once-in-a-lifetime memory,” said Eric Peerless, the vice president of Since1910.com.
